I. Организационный момент

— Good afternoon, boys and girls! (Good afternoon!)

— How are you? (Fine, thanks!)

— Who’s absent today?

II. Актуализация знаний

— Do you remember the characters of the fairy tales? Listen and say who they are.

(Учитель читает описания героев, а ученики угадывают их имена.)

— Не is rather lazy and likes to sleep. (Jack Trott.)

— He is very big and scary. (The Giant.)

— She loves Jack and cares about him. (Mrs Trott.)

— She is kind and saves Jack. (The Giantess.)

Episode 1

— Open your books at page 8. Look at the picture. What can you see? (It’s a house.)

— Is it a poor house? (Yes, it is.)

— Why do you think that the house is poor? (The walls are old and ugly. The bed and the clothes are old, too. There is no food in the cupboard.)

— Open your books at page 27. Look at the tasks in Episode 1. Do Exercise 1, please.

(Ученики самостоятельно выполняют задание, а затем все вместе проверяют ответы.

Keys: cupboard, honey, bread, cow, milk, bed.)

— Who do you think the boy is? (The boy is Jack Trott.)

— Where’s Jack in the picture on page 8? (He’s in his bed.)

— Is it the daytime or the night? (It's the daytime.)

— Who is the woman? (She is Mrs Trott.)

— What do you think she is saying to him? (Wake up, Jack!)

— Look at page 9. What do you think Mrs Trott is saying now? (We haven 7 got any food to eat.)

— Let’s read and listen to the episode to find out if you’re right. (Ученики слушают и читают первый эпизод, а затем обсуждают, насколько правильными были их предположения. После этого ученики читают первый эпизод снова и выполняют упр. 3 (с. 27).

Keys: 1F, 2F, 3Т, 4F, 5F.)

— Correct the wrong sentences.

(Keys: 1 — Jack is sleeping in his bedroom. 2 — Jack and his mother haven’t got any food to eat. 4 — The cow’s name is Daisy. 5 — Jack is sad to sell the cow.

Episode 2

— Open your books at page 10. Look at the picture. Who can you see? (We can see an old man and Jack with his cow.)

— Are they in the market? (No, they aren't.)

— What has the old man got in his hand? (He's got some beans.)

— Look at the picture on page 11. Where’s Jack now? (He's at home.)

— What’s Jack doing? (He's giving the beans to his mother.)

— Is she happy? (No, she isn't.)

— Read and listen to the episode and say why Jack gives his cow to the old man.

(Ученики слушают и читают второй эпизод, а затем отвечают на вопрос: Jack gives his cow to the old man because the old man gives him the magic beans. После этого ученики еще раз читают второй эпизод и выполняют упр. 3 (с. 27).

Keys: 1 - Jack is going to the market because he has to sell the cow. 2 - The old man wants to buy the cow. 3 - The old man tells him that the beans are magic. 4 - Mrs Trott is angry because Jack didn’t get money for the cow.

Учителю следует убедиться, что ученики поняли значение следующих выражений.)

— How many characters are there in Episode 1? Who are they? (Jack and Mrs Trott.)

— Let’s read and listen to the episode again. Then you’ll act it out. (Учитель распределяет роли, включая рассказчика (narrator).

Ученики слушают и читают эпизод столько раз, сколько учитель считает необходимым. Аналогично учащиеся читают по ролям второй эпизод.)

At home you’ll learn your parts by heart.
