Инфинитив или Герундий - ОСНОВНОЙ КУРС
Мы уже рассмотрели случаи употребления Герундия, теперь обратим внимание на случаи, когда употребляется только Инфинитив:
C частицей to |
Без частицы to |
для указания цели: She stopped to buy ice cream. — Она остановилась, чтобы купить мороженое. |
после модальных глаголов must, can, will, should и др. |
после некоторых глаголов: to advise to (советовать), to agree to (соглашаться), to appear to(оказываться), to decide to (решать), to expect to (ожидать), to hope to (надеяться), to promise to(обещать), to refuse to (отказываться) |
после конструкций had better (лучше бы) / would rather (предпочесть — часто при выборе): I would rather stay at home. — Я бы предпочел остаться дома. I had better leave now. — Мне лучше сейчас уйти. |
после вопросительных слов where, why, how, what: I don't know where to meet them. — Я не знаю, где их встретить. |
после make, let + дополнение I let my child watch TV. — Я разрешаю (позволяю) своему ребенку смотреть телевизор. She made me tell the truth. — Она заставила меня сказать правду. |
в конструкциях после too (слишком), enough (достаточно): She is too young to understand it. — Она слишком молода, чтобы понять это. I'm tall enough to reach that shelf. — Я достаточно высокая, чтобы достать до той полки. |
